Counting Down

I had a sad moment today.  I realized that on this day two months from now, Rodger and I will be home…alone.  Our girls will be leaving us soon and just the thought makes me want to cry.

I do not know who all reads this blog, if it is just family and friends, or if there are other people out there in the blogosphere that have happened to wonder in.  But I want to announce it loud and clear to everyone:  Hosting a foreign exchange student has been an absolutely, positively, wonderful experience.   I do not know if it is because we happened to get two exceptional girls or if it is because the girls got such an exceptional family (just kidding) but I do know, we will do it again.

To the families I would like to say you have raised astonishing daughters.  They are smart, funny, kind, friendly, honest, trustworthy, personable and brave.  They both have faced this challenge head on and have done so extraordinarily. Yes there have been times (few and far between) when they have been home sick, but they both overcame it quickly and came back from it better than before and ready and rearing to go.  You must be great parents to have raised them so well.  Kudos to you all!

Rodger and I will miss them terribly when they are gone but I know that we will keep in touch. I hope to dance at both of their weddings.  We love them dearly.

Amusement Park Fun!

We just got home from our “Disney” vacation.  We really didn’t do Disney, we went to Universal Studios and Adventure Island…it was a BLAST!  Here are just a couple of pictures so you can see the girls.  Also there is a video of the roller coaster.  It was wild!

I took this while we were riding the coster...and let me tell you, it was not easy!

They all got soaked! I did NOT ride this one!

We rode the rocket! If you look close, you can see me in the back taking a video.

A Typical Night

Here is the family just hanging out watching TV like we do most nights.
She says her feet hurt from softball.
Somehow Nanna can convince Rodger to give her a foot rub!  I have been married to him for 25 years and I don’t get foot rubs!  I need to figure out what kind of magic she is using!
Queen of the remote.
Notice that Yasmina has the remote!  LOL  I think the DVR (Digital Video Recorder) is what she is going to miss the most when she goes back to Austria.  She love being able to pause, rewind and fast forward!!

During spring break from school, the girls got to spend the night at one of their friend’s homes.  She lives in the same neighborhood as we do.  How convenient!

The Easter Bunny came!  He left buckets instead of baskets?
Oh well, it is still full of goodies!!!

He brought a gift certificate for Yasmina to get her nails done!

He gave one to Nanna too!
Nanna got a pretty pink watch.

Yasmina got a watch too.
