AFS = Amusing! Fun! & Sassy!

The girls just got home from the weekend at their AFS Post Arrival Orientation.  It sounds like they had a lot of fun!  They did a lot of activities focusing on how to overcome obstacles they might encounter, how to meet people and what to do if you get into a bad situation.

They played games, pigged out,

Nanna's plate is the one where no one is sitting...she took the photo!
went out to a street fair,

ate frozen yogurt

and basically had a wonderful, silly time.

They were both very tired when they got home and are tucked away in their beds.  It is good to have them home.  We missed them while they were gone.  It was just too quiet around the house.  Welcome home girls!
PS...Thank you to Nanna who took all of the photos posted this time on the blog!  :)

Lazy Weekend

Just chillin'!
Yasmina watching TV in the family room.

Nanna listening to music and Face Booking in her room.

This weekend the girls did their own things.  Yasmina went to a Kelly Pickler concert with some friends and Nanna went to the football game with her friends.  After that we pretty much just lazed around.  Volleyball game tonight!  :)

Labor Day Weekend – Sunday

Time to shop!  The girls and I wanted to go shopping.  However, not being from Jacksonville, I did not know my way around.  So my son, Michael, graciously offered to be our driver and chauffeur us around.  We went to St. John’s Town Center.  It has over 150 stores to choose from!

Yasmina immediately zoomed in on Abercrombie and Fitch and we were off!

Now we did not get to all 150+ stores, but we did manage to make it through a few.  We hit Bath and Body Works, Victoria’s Secret, Aeropostale, and a sporting goods store where the each picked up a Florida Gators shirt.  We also managed to squeeze in lunch at Panera Bread!  YUMMY!!!

After all that shopping we headed back to my sister’s house.

Our plan was to go to the beach but we decided to just stay put and lounge around the pool.

Michael, my son, took on the girls in a water war.  They were no match for him.  He dunked both of them several times.

My sister and her husband, Hugh, tried to help girls by giving them water guns,

but it did not take long for Michael to seize them and then use the water guns against them!
He eventually tired and I decided to hop in!

We stayed in the pool until well after the sun went down.  A big THANK YOU to my sister and brother-in-law for inviting us down for such a fun weekend!

Monday morning, we loaded up the truck, hooked up the boat and headed for home.  We plan on going back again this upcoming weekend – Hugh is getting ticket for us to go see the Jacksonville Jaguars!

Stay tuned for photo of the girls at their first professional football game!

Labor Day Weekend - Saturday

What a fun weekend!  We headed down to Jacksonville, Florida to my sisters, Janet’s house.  We played on the boat, shopped, went out to eat, saw gators, shopped and played in the pool!  What more could a girl ask for?

We took the girls, along with our son and my sister, out on the boat.  They got to experience tubing.   They were a little hesitant at first because Michael (our son) convinced them there were alligators in the water and if they stayed in one place too long they would be eaten!  LOL  What are big brothers for, right?  So just to be on the safe side the girls had Michael get in on the tube first.  J  Smart girls!  Once they decided it was safe, they were raring to go!  Nanna ventured out first!

But Yasmina was an eager second!

Once they had conquered tubing, (neither one fell off the tube) they decided to try their hand at water skiing.  Again Nanna went first.

She came so close, but never quite made it up.  The skis were just too big for her tiny feet.  We literally pulled her out of the skis each time she tried to get up.  But she gave it her best try!  I was proud of her for not giving up.  We will have to get some smaller skis and try it again.

Yasmina was ready for her turn!  She made it up on the second try!

Way to go YASMINA!  The smile on her face said it all.  She loved it!  She stayed up for about 100 feet before she fell.  She tried a few more times but didn’t manage to stand up again.

After we got everyone back in the boat, we opened up the throttle and sped around for a bit then headed back to the boat ramp.  It was a fun afternoon.

After boating, we headed back to my sister’s house, got cleaned up, and went out to dinner and Clarks Fish Camp.
Now for those of you who have never ventured down to Jacksonville, FL and into Clarks, it is, to say the least, a very unique establishment. It is what I like to call taxidermy heaven!

It also has baby gators outside that you can feed!

Clarks also serves several distinctive entrĂ©es: everything from the mundane fish to the exotic kangaroo and alligator and everything in-between.  The girls had no idea what to order!  I got three appetizers:  kangaroo, alligator and calamari (or squid).  They tried each of them and liked the calamari the best with alligator and kangaroo both tied for last!  J  Of course we had to take photos!

After dinner we headed home.  We were all tired from our day in the sun.  We were all tucked into bed by 11:30.  All in all if was a great day!
